Bindi Irwin’s Poignant Resurfaced Photos With Dad Steve Irwin Prove a Father’s Love Never Ends

Bindi Irwin is trying to make us all cry … and it’s working! She posted several throwback photos with her dad, the late Steve Irwin, in honor of what would have been his 62nd birthday, and they are so touching.

“Happy Birthday, Dad. Your legacy will live on forever,” the Australia Zoo conservationist captioned the post, which shows the tender love between father and daughter. In the first picture, a young Bindi has crimped hair pulled back in two pigtails. She smiles next to her dad, holding a bird in her hands, and looking absolutely adorable.

Bindi Irwin’s Poignant Photos

One photo features the whole Irwin family, including a very young Bindi dressed in a pink sweater and tights, a toddler Robert Irwin, with a crop of blonde hair, Steve in a blue button-down with jeans, and his wife Terri Irwin, in a pink button-down shirt and khaki pants. It’s such a sweet family moment captured outside in beautiful Australia.

Other precious pictures in the carousel of memories include Steve, Terri, and Bindi on a boat, Steve with crocodiles, Steve holding Bindi in a laundry basket, and more. It’s like looking through a private family photo album, and it’s so heartwarming to see. You can see how much Steve loves his kids, and even though he tragically died in 2006, that love will never go away.

Grab the tissues, because Terri left one of the most emotional comments on the post: “Steve’s love for you will live on forever too. ❤” Aww!

“The whole world is crying right now. 🐸🐊🇦🇺🦘🌏” someone else wrote.

Another person shared the way the Crocodile Hunter influenced them. “He’s always gonna be a hero and role model to so many,” they wrote. “He inspired me to work with animals. I went to Uni and got a degree in zoology. You’re also a person I look up to Bindi and I’m sure he would be so proud of you in every single way. Happy Birthday Steve 💚 my heart will always be Khaki 🫶”

Robert Irwin’s Memories

Bindi’s younger brother shared his own tribute to his late dad, which included a sweet story about Steve’s motorbike. “It’s a meaningful day to share this special story … on Dad’s birthday. It makes me so proud that his legacy lives on,” Robert wrote on Instagram.

He told the story with old pictures and videos of Steve, including one with Robert riding on the front of the motorbike with Steve driving. Wind is blowing their hair, and they both look overjoyed in the picture.

“Dad had a long history with motorbikes and when he got this Honda 100, it was his main mode of transportation around Australia Zoo,” Robert says over clips of Steve driving around the red-and-white bike. “And for me and my sister, every morning we’d get on, hold onto the handlebars, dad would take us around the morning park checks, and we’d get ice cream.”

In one picture, Bindi and Robert are both on the bike with their dad, chomping on ice cream while Steve drives them around outside. “Some of my fondest and earliest memories were on that bike,” he says in the video.

After Steve died, Robert shared the bike sat in the garage for a while. Until Robert decided to bring it back. “I got it back up and running recently, and now it’s my job to get the motorbike started every morning and do the same park checks around Australia Zoo.”

Robert gets on the motorbike in a modern-day video, putting a helmet on. He explains, “Every time I start that thing, it brings back so many memories, and I absolutely love it.”

“It means so much that this piece of machinery that he loved and used every day keeps on running,” he adds. “I take good care of it but still take it off road every opportunity I get. I reckon dad would have wanted that.”

He also takes his bike into the Crocoseum, just like Steve used to do. “It was well known back in dad’s day that you could always hear him before you could see him thanks to that motorbike,” Robert shares. “And these days, the sound of the Honda engine still rings around Australia Zoo pretty much every day. … And now, when you come into the zoo, chances are, you’ll hear me before you see me. Not much has changed.”

“❤️❤️❤️,” Bindi wrote. Terri commented on the heart-wrenching video as well: “Beautiful memories on such a special day. Your dad is definitely proud of you. And we both will love you always and forever. ❤” Our hearts are a puddle on the floor!

Terri Irwin’s Sweet Video

Terri paid tribute to her late husband as well by sharing a remixed video of Steve wrestling with crocodiles, admiring snakes, holding monkeys, and more. “Happy Birthday! Missing my Action Man. ❤️ Credit: Melodysheep,” she captioned the sweet video.

These vintage photos and videos keep Steve’s memory alive for Bindi and husband Chandler Powell’s 2-year-old daughter Grace Warrior and for all of us who loved him, too. Happy birthday, Steve Irwin!
