Don’t let anyone fool you: traveling with kids is not a vacation. OK, maybe you can find times to relax once you get to your destination, but the actual travel days can be agonizing. Kaley Cuoco detailed one such experience during a recent trip to the east coast with her 10-month-old baby Matilda “Tildy,” and our hearts go out to her.
The Big Bang Theory alum, who shares Tildy with boyfriend Tom Pelphrey, posted about her airport trip on her Instagram story on Saturday, per PEOPLE. “How did we make it to the east coast in one piece after the travel day from hell!? Well,” Cuoco wrote, sharing a picture of Tildy wearing a pink sweater and matching pants and holding a little plush bunny in her Minnie Mouse stroller.
Buckle up — it’s a wild right!
Dancing & Snacking
It started out fine at first. “Baby girl danced with auntie @bricuoco while she ate everything in sight,” Cuoco wrote, sharing a video of Tildy dancing with her aunt Briana Cuoco. Later, Briana’s partner Brian Logan Dales was pictured offering Tildy snacks after their flight was delayed (for the first time).
The flight was delayed again, and this time, Cuoco and Tildy took to the bottle. “We did some day drinking,” she captioned a funny picture, which showed The Flight Attendant star drinking a glass of wine and Tildy holding a baby bottle of milk.
Cuoco is wearing a gray sweatshirt and matching pants, with her hair up in a messy bun in another photo. She sits on a chair at the airport, with Tildy standing up in front of her, supported by her mom’s legs. “5 hours later baby decided she likes to hang upside down God help us,” she captioned the pic. Poor girl! She looks exhausted and now Tildy has just come up with an even more tiring way to be entertained. Later, Tildy switched it up when she learned how to “smack mommy in the face multiple times.” Did I mention traveling with kids is the worst?!
Boarding
Finally, after hours and hours of delays, they boarded their flight! “Finally make it on the plane,” Cuoco wrote, per PEOPLE. “at this point I’m not sure who iam anymore and who I will become.” She shared a cute photo of her holding Tildy in her lap, as she holds Tildy’s teal over-the-ear headphones on her head.
But if Cuoco was hoping for rest once they finally made it on the plane, she was sadly disappointed. “No clue what this was or why we were boppin,” ‘she shared over a video of her and Tildy dancing on the plane. “I was praying she would sleep so I could sleep but no we didn’t sleep no one slept ever.”
“Here’s hoping she sleeps the next 3 days straight,” she added. (Fingers crossed!)
At the end of the day though — and once they actually made it ot their destination — Cuoco praised how well Tildy handled the flight delays and long wait at the airport. “All in all this baby did amazing. I was the wreck,” she wrote. “She was fine and if anyone is still reading, these types of days are for surviving. A dessert (or 7), a kid movie, some wine for mom, the nicest flight attendants thank goodness!”
She added, “Just do what you can to survive!” And that is pretty much motherhood in a nutshell!
Motherhood Survival
Last month, the Role Play star called the first year of being a mom “survival,” and shared a potentially controversial thing that has helped her: tons of screen time.
“Some people are going to hate on me for that. Don’t care,” she told USA Today. “My daughter’s seen every Disney movie that there is at this point, and she loves it!”
She added that everyone has to do what works best for them when it comes to taking care of your kids. “My advice is don’t take any advice because every kid is different,” Cuoco told the outlet. “What my kid needs is not what your kid needs, and our household is different than yours, and it’s survival. You do what you can do.”
She’s right — and we love how she is normalizing finding what works for your family, even if it might be controversial. Cuoco’s a real one!
