This is not a drill: Eva Mendes is releasing a children’s book!
Earlier this week, Mendes told People that she is publishing her debut children’s book entitled Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries with Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, on Sept. 17. It will be released in both English and Spanish, and it’s a love letter to her and Ryan Gosling’s daughters.
“Desi, Mami and the Never-Ending Worries is a love letter to my kids and yours. Learning how to train our brains to work for us and not against us is easier said than done! At my home and in Desi’s, we try to deal with the never-ending worries and anxieties that we all have, so those negative thoughts don’t take over and dominate,” she said to the same outlet.
“Inspired by our own nightly events with my daughters, Desi and Mami learn from each other on facing our monsters — whether under our bed or in our head.”
For those wondering, the book will be available on Amazon. Written by Mendes and illustrated by Abbey Bryant, the story follows a young girl named Desi who is afraid of the monsters under her bed, and enlists the help of her mother to get over the nighttime scaries.
Not only do we love that it’s such a relatable parenting struggle, but we also adore the fact that it’s dedicated to her kiddos!
For those who don’t know, Mendes and Gosling were originally friends before their romance heated up on the set of the film The Place Beyond the Pines. They share two daughters together named Esmerelda, 9, and Amada, 7.
