Prince William Shares Rare Comments About Kate Middleton & Their Kids — & The Timing Is Totally Strange

Prince William hasn’t been entirely mum while his wife Kate Middleton is reportedly recovering from planned abdominal surgery. He’s made brief comments about her recuperating well, but his latest tidbit was surprising after the royal family‘s latest flub.

ICYMI: After endless conspiracy theories about Middleton’s surgery and her whereabouts, Buckingham Palace released a photo on Sunday of the Princess of Wales looking carefree with her kids Prince George, 10, Prince George, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. The four have huge smiles and everything looks picture-perfect … until you look a little closer. Then you can see the discrepancies in the photo that had news agencies pulling the picture for fear that it had been tampered with.

And thus began the scramble to explain why Louis had a finger missing and the women’s hair looked off.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C,” Middleton (or perhaps her team) wrote on X via the Kensington Palace account.

But, of course, this has only stoked the internet’s outlandish theories.

Anyhoo! What now?

Prince William opened a new youth center in west London yesterday and made one of his rare comments about his wife while decorating cookies with kids.

“My wife is the arty one,” he said per Hello!

Uhh … that’s a strange thing to say after her reported fail, no? It’s probably in the palace’s best interest to keep the topic of conversation around Middleton away from her creative endeavors. (I say given my vast industry experience as a public relations representative for the royal family.)

Redirecting The Conversation

The Prince of Wales then steered the conversation away from his wife and toward the rest of his family. “Even my children are artier than me,” he said.

“Louis loves sprinkles,” he continued.

William also joined the kids in other fun activities including playing basketball and doing arts and crafts. While there, he encouraged them to spend less time on their screens.

“The grown-ups are guilty of it too,” he said. “We have got to be better at it, our phones, too. We spend ages on our phones.”

Again … that might not be the thing to say right now. If I were him, I certainly wouldn’t be talking about doing things on my phone or how “arty” my wife is for fear of reminding the public of the latest scandal.
