Meal time is sacred in my house. And by that I mean, my kids enjoy their “kid food” dinner early, then my husband and I enjoy a nice meal alone after the little ones are in bed. Not having a family dinner around the kitchen table every night is something I refuse to feel bad about — especially because food preferences and traditions are so personal. Another thing I don’t feel bad about? Preparing dishes my kids actually like. Why waste time making something they will refuse to even try? At 6 and under, my kids are all so picky, and my doctor and I agree that with as much fruit as they eat, it all balances out.

So with that being said, I completely understand the way Chrissy Teigen handles dinner for her four kids. The Cravings author just shared the unique way she makes dinner for Luna, 7, Miles, 5, Esti, 1, and Wren, 9 months, who she shares with husband John Legend, and some people were really, really mad about it.

“POV: each kid wants something different for dinner (and wants dessert),” Teigen wrote over a video on Instagram. This is so, so common in my house that I didn’t even bat an eye! In the video, she prepares mac ‘n cheese, chicken tenders covered in red sauce and cheese, broccoli and cheese, and brownies.

To make everyone what they want in an easy way, Teigen uses her new Better Baker Set, which comes with four oven-safe silicone trays that allows you to cook separate foods on the gold sheet pan. They also have lids, so you can pop the leftovers directly into the fridge!

“Kid dinner last night using our dope-as-sh*t better baker set!!” the Chrissy & Dave Dine Out star captioned the video. “And so pretty in the fridge. swoon 🥰.”

While some people thought this was amazing (including me!), others were extremely judgmental about Teigen’s mealtime. “In the household I grew up in, the answer to this POV would be nothing close to this video response… 🤣😂” one person commented.

“My mother used to say, ‘I’m not running a ******* restaurant!’ 😂” another wrote. Someone else commented, “I literally was never asked what I want for dinner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.”

Someone else lectured, “My dear, I can be your grandmother and telling you this from the bottom of my heart. Don’t start that with the kids, even though you can, you should discipline them that they should eat what’s on the dinner table, it will teach them manners and to appreciate what they have to eat, as so many others in the world are starving! God bless you all. 😇❤️”

These people probably had good intentions, but ultimately, they have no business telling someone else how to parent or feed their kids. Just because you were raised a certain way, doesn’t mean you have to raise your kids like that — or that other people have to raise their kids like that.

Teigen has opened up about her kids’ different eating styles before. In a Jan. 2024 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she revealed, “Luna is the best eater. Luna is amazing, she eats salads, vegetables.” (So now we know who the broccoli and cheese was for!)

“Miles has still not had a vegetable,” Teigen continued. “He is six, almost. He accidentally ate a broccoli floret in a fried rice and was so upset about it.”

Feeding kids is hard, and we love that Teigen isn’t embarrassed to share that she just goes with it and makes her kids things that they will eat. She’s doing great!
