As if we couldn’t love Paul Rudd anymore, he goes and admits he’s a Swiftie. Swoon! The Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire star opened up about his love for Taylor Swift, which he shares with his 14-year-old daughter Darby, who he shares with wife Julie Yaeger. (They are also parents to 18-year-old Jack Sullivan.)
“I’m not very hip, I’m out of what’s cool. Not by choice, it’s just ‘cause I’m old,” he said in an interview with MTV published Thursday. Adding, “I live my life like someone’s grandfather.” However, he does have one thing that makes him cool: his admiration of the “Karma” singer.
“I think she’s really very good, I think she’s great,” Rudd said. He also admitted to singing along to some of his favorite songs when he took his daughter to The Eras Tour, including “Mastermind,” “Cruel Summer,” “The Archer,” and “August.”
He’s also a huge fan of the Grammy-winner’s boyfriend Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. After the Super Bowl, Rudd was photographed hugging Kelce. “I’m a big fan of that team and I have been my whole life. Travis Kelce is the greatest guy,” he said. He added, “When they won, it was pure elation.”
If they ever get married, someone needs to invite Paul Rudd because that is the cutest thing ever.
The Ant-Man star talked more about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift on The Late Show with Stephen Colbertearlier this month. “My daughter, by the way is also like my son, has grown up a Chiefs fanatic,” Rudd told host Stephen Colbert. “And she loves Taylor Swift. But when [Travis and Taylor] first started [dating], my daughter said, ‘Well, I wonder how many of these new Swifties are going to be able to talk about DiCaprio Bootle.’ And I said, ‘None of them. But you can.’”
Colbert also loves the “Bejeweled” singer. “When my daughter was 14, I took her to the Grammys and she met Taylor Swift, and Taylor was so nice to her, that to this day I would murder for her,” he told Rudd.
Then Rudd shared what he thought about The Eras Tour. “I went to that show and it was incredible,” he said. “And I was so knocked out by how — it was like a stadium filled with 80,000 people, whatever it was — and I just thought, there’s so much support and love and positivity. And to feel that kind of feeling with that many people, normally it’s the opposite feeling … It was pure love and support. And it was incredible. She did it all.”
He’s supportive of the superstar, and that makes him the coolest dad ever in our book.
