Longtime Keeping Up With the Kardashians fans might remember a time when Kourtney Kardashian was obsessed with losing weight after welcoming her firstborn son Mason, now 14 — or when she felt a lot of shame and pressure for not losing weight after daughter Penelope, now 11, was born. This time around, The Kardashians star is giving her body much more grace and encouraging other women to do the same. She shared new bikini pictures on Instagram this weekend along with a sweet message for postpartum moms.
“Dear new mommies,” the mom of four, including son Reign, 9, who (along with Mason and Penelope) she shares with ex Scott Disick, and baby Rocky, 5 months, who she shares with husband Travis Barker, began on her Instagram story.
“Your body is beautiful at all stages,” Kardashian continued. “During pregnancy as we are glowing and growing, postpartum as we are healing and shrinking, and then that period I find the hardest as our bodies are still adjusting. And if you’re breastfeeding, that’s a whole other part of it.”
She shared the way she is working to accept and love her body through it all. “I try to be kind to myself as my body finds a new normal,” the Lemme founder said. “The pressure put on us to bounce back when everything is new and different isn’t realistic. Life is beautiful, you are beautiful. Just a little reminder (for me too;) XOXO.”
Her words are so encouraging, and it’s beautiful to see how much she has grown since becoming a mom the first time over a decade ago. And with a platform as big as hers — with 224 million followers on Instagram alone — it’s an important message to share.
Kardashian also included a link to a recent Instagram post on her story. She’s wearing a black bikini as she stands in the crystal-clear ocean water on vacation, smiling with her hair slicked back and her arms outstretched. The second picture is taken half underwater and half above, as she holds her ears and smiles. She is practically glowing in the water.
She used a more lighthearted caption on her Instagram grid, referencing an iconic Kardashian family moment. “My diamond earring came off in the ocean and it’s gone,” she quipped.
Her mom Kris Jenner commented, “Kourtney there are people that are dying ….” (IYKYK).
“cutie 🥰” Kylie Jenner wrote.
Last month, the Poosh founder shared an update from her family vacation in Australia, where she was to support Barker during his Blink-182 tour.
“Feeling so grateful for every single second of time with my babies,” she wrote on Instagram. “Rare to get 2 full weeks of 24/7 time as they get older! Thank you Australia for the beautiful memories (minus the spiders).”
Kardashian had another message for postpartum moms back in December. She shared a picture of her walking on a treadmill with the speed set at 3, the incline set at 12, and a timer set for 30 minutes. “Taking it easy,” she wrote. “No rush no pressure mamas, your body is healing, it’s not a race.” So true!
These celebrity moms have embraced the changes in their bodies after giving birth.
