Shawn Johnson and her husband Andrew East just went on a whirlwind trip to Disney World with some friends, their toddlers Drew and Jett, and their infant son Bear.
Johnson documented the trip on her Instagram Story, sharing a video of Bear on his first ride and snapshots of Drew hugging Ariel. And while most people dream of sunny days at the park, the Johnson-East family was met with downpours. But that didn’t bring them down.
“We were legitimately slap happy,” the Olympic gymnast wrote on one photo of everyone in front of Cinderella’s castle. “Melting kids. Soaking wet. 10 hours in rain running on sugar and no naps. It was amazing.”
“5 babies, 5 adults, a couple of meltdowns, a mid rollercoaster thunder storm, SO much sugar, SO many princess hugs, and so much magic,” she said in another.
And while the destination is [almost always] a blast, the travel to and from can be a total buzz kill. Because antsy kids who can’t wait to get on that first ride — or zombie-like kids running on fumes — just want to know, “Are we there yet?!”
But Johnson came prepared with travel toys and shared a photo on her Story of Drew playing on her airplane tray table. Along with what looks to be a princess-themed activity book, the 4-year-old had some of the best putty out there.
Crazy Aaron’s Hide Inside! Mixed Emotions Thinking Putty
Yup, Drew had a wad of Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty all smooshed up and ready for…more smooshing. And this wasn’t your average Crazy Aaron’s putty (that guy has so. many. kinds.). This was a “Hide Inside!” blend. Inside the clear putty are a bunch of little colorful faces. Hidden among the smiley faces are six with different expressions that kids have to find.
Basically, it’s hide and seek but with slime. Drew can push and pull and squish the putty in search of the mystery faces. Once she finds them, she can mix the putty and start over. Or, don’t even worry about seeking. Just use it as a fun sensory toy. There are so many possibilities, and at just $15, it’s so affordable. Great idea, Johnson!
