Ciara is opening up about her postpartum body — and fans are split on how they feel about it. Four months after Ciara welcomed her fourth baby, and third child with husband Russell Wilson, the “1, 2 Step” singer is focused on a singular goal: to lose 70 pounds.
“Trying to lose 70lbs post baby, prepare for a show and tour while breastfeeding, and running my businesses …” Ciara wrote on Instagram, referencing her plans to go on tour with Missy Elliott for the Out of This World tour.
“Shout out to all my mammas out there gettin in, I see you! ToughSh$t. #MambaMentality🐍,” she added.
In the accompanying picture, Ciara wears her hair in two braids over a Nike hoodie that says, “Tough sh*t.” She’s standing in what looks like a gym — and, BTW, looks absolutely gorgeous!
While wanting to lose the weight you gained during pregnancy is completely normal, some people were (justifiably!) concerned with her approach to her postpartum body and her huge weight loss goal. (Especially as many celebrity mamas have shared messages of being gentle on yourself and not feeling pressure to “bounce back.”)
“Do you really have to lose the weight??😢 You look fine 🔥🔥🚒,” one commenter said. “Please don´t be under pressure about losing your weight! You are beautiful 😍,” someone else wrote.
Another said, “Post baby weight looks good!”
Others praised her fitness goals. Gabrielle Union commented, “💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾.” Another person wrote, “Sis you’ve done it before, and you can do it again. I’m betting on YOU! 🫶🏽”
“Hero!!!!! 🙌❤️” someone else commented. My favorite comment: “Simply stunning no matter what❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.”
Women are beautiful no matter what their weight is, and we love that people are being supportive of Ciara’s goals and reminding her that she is already beautiful just as she is.
The Grammy winner, who is mom to Amora, 4 months, Win, 3, and Sienna, 6, with Wilson, and Future Jr., with ex Future, shared a somewhat different opinion about her postpartum body in February. She shared pictures of herself in a maroon swimsuit on the beach, walking around with her long braids flying in the wind.
“Embrace every stage of life 🤍,” she wrote in the caption, seemingly embracing her curves and the postpartum stage. This is noticeably different from what she recently said on Instagram, which at the time, garnered support from Wilson. “Beautiful Black Queen. I Love You,” he said.
Hopefully Ciara gives herself grace during this difficult postpartum period, even as she’s training to get back to work.
