Homemade cards are wonderful and breakfast in bed is great (in theory), but the one thing Jennifer Garner treasures the most? Pictures with her kids! The 13 Going on 30 alum revealed her favorite Mother’s Day tradition with her kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, who she shares with ex Ben Affleck, and it reveals her sentimental side.
“I have one ask,” Garner recently told PEOPLE about what she wants for Mother’s Day. “And it is that when my kids were really little, on some Mother’s Day, they all sat on my lap one after the other all at once for a picture.”
“And I want that picture every year, even though it’s ridiculous at this point. They’re so big,” she added. “But I make them take it and they are just like, ‘Mom.’ But that’s my ask.”
It doesn’t matter that she has two teens and a pre-teen — she wants that same sweet Mother’s Day cuddle and special photo like she’s gotten every year! As a mom of three kids, I can so relate. Getting a perfect, happy, smiling photo of you and your child is a gift that you can cherish forever. The Last Thing He Told Me star said in an interview on The TODAY Show With Hoda & Jennain November, “I just really enjoy my kids.” She continued, “I don’t know that I have some overarching philosophy. I just think they’re such cool people, and I want to hear everything, and I want to be around.”
“But I also think it’s OK if they suffer from a little bit of benign neglect,” she added. “Where their lives are their own. I’m not trying to live their life, and I don’t mind that they see that I love mine.”
She is also focused on co-parenting with Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez, who is mom to twins Emme and Max, 16, with ex Marc Anthony. A source told Us Weeklyin January that the two Jennifers “communicate rather frequently when it comes to their kids, scheduling plans, etc.” The insider added, “They know the ones who benefit the most are the children and that’s all they care about. They have a mutual respect for each other as parents and know how well all their kids get along. They want to foster and nurture those relationships and will do whatever it takes to show their support.”
Garner is a supermom, and if she wants a picture with her kids, she deserves it!
