Just when we thought Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian’s feud was dead and gone, “thanK you aIMee” came out. The track on Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, has taken the internet by storm, reigniting the feud between the two stars. And while insiders have previously said that Kardashian has been unbothered about it all, there is one thing she’s pretty peeved about.
Insiders exclusively told Life & Style that Kardashian is upset Swift brought her kids into it.
(If you don’t know what we’re talking about, in the song, Swift sings a lyric that says “I changed your name and any real defining clues. And one day, your kid comes home singin’ a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”)
“Kim was shocked. The fact that Taylor thought it was OK to involve her child … It was a total low blow,” the insider said, adding that “The power of Taylor’s fan base is so immense. Her calling Kim a bully and whipping her fans into a frenzy is not something she can dismiss.”
Another insider, though, defended Swift’s actions amid the controversial lyric. She “felt compelled to tell her truth.” “This is her side of the story. Kim and Kanye should have known better. Besides, she didn’t start the feud,” they said.
So it seems that while Kardashian is upset about the lyrics, Swift is allegedly standing firm on telling her story.
So, if you need a recap on the feud, it goes all the way back to 2016, also known as the incident that helped inspire her Reputation era. Back then, Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West came out with a song called “Famous,” which had the line “Might have sex with Taylor Swift / Why? I made that b***h famous.”
Now, this song started it all, because while West claimed Swift gave him permission (and Kardashian released a video of her agreeing to it), Swift says otherwise. She claimed that the video Kardashian took was “manipulated” and “illegally recorded.”
Kardashian gave her final statement on the feud in 2020. She wrote: “To be clear, the only issue I ever had around the situation was that Taylor lied through her publicist who stated that ‘Kanye never called to ask for permission…’ They clearly spoke so I let you all see that. Nobody ever denied the word ‘bitch’ was used without her permission.”
However, it was declared that the video posted wasn’t 100 percent authentic, per Taste of Country.
