As a dad himself, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has a little experience with getting challenged. (And, OK, being a former pro wrestler maybe gave him some insight as well.) So, when a brave little kid called for a match at a Target recently, there was only one thing The Rock could do: step up to the challenge!
“This kid challenged The Rock to rock, paper, scissors,” he said over a video posted on Instagram. The duo stopped in the towel aisle for the competition, where The Rock immediately smashed the kid’s scissors with his rock (because, of course!). “Aw, c’mon, you know I’m going for the rock all the time. Want to go again?” Johnson graciously asked. And that’s why we love him. He could have just let the hopeful kid walk away defeated, but he wanted to leave a sweet impression.
They had four draws before Rock beat him again with a rock. C’mon kid, you gotta give the paper! Later, the same kid found The Rock again and asked for a rematch. After another few draws, the kid played scissors, which beat The Rock’s paper. “Mission passed. Respect,” The Rock wrote over the video, with the kid raising his arms in elation. It was just a game of rock, paper, scissors, but you know it made that kid’s whole day.
“Gotta respect this kid’s tenacity — he ain’t taking an L in public from The Final Boss 😂💀👏🏾👏🏾👊🏾,” the Black Adam star captioned the video. “* you know I wasn’t leaving this store without making sure this kid gets his ‘I beat the Rock at Rock, Paper, Scissors’ story 🪨 📝 ✂️ 😉”
He added, “Good job, kid. Payback is coming!!”
Fans praised the sweet way Johnson handled this kid’s challenge. “He loved every minute best story of his life,” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “Good man to good kids👏👏👏🙌❤️❤️❤️❤️”
“You made the boys’ world! You are awesome, @therock”
The Young Rock star is dad to daughters Jasmine, 8, and Tiana Gia, 5, with wife Lauren Hashian, and Ava Raine, 22, with ex Dany Garcia. His girls must have given The Rock a soft spot for kids, because he is constantly using his talents and fame to make them happy. In March, he shared a sweet video granting 2-year-old Naomi’s wish, who is in the hospital with a brain disorder.
“Her wish is for Maui [from Moana] to send her a video of him singing ‘You’re Welcome’ 🩵🎶❤️,” he wrote in the caption. “As we know, there’s a lot of noise and negativity out there, but I deeply believe that positive energy, light and mana can make a real difference in people’s lives — especially when it comes to our children who are struggling.”
“Naomi I hope you smile with this song and Uncle Maui will sing ‘You’re Welcome’ anytime you need it,” Johnson added. “Thank you everyone watching this for sending your mana and positive light.”
His caring heart and unlimited patience makes him an inspiration for all. It’s easy to see why everybody wants him to run for president!
