North West’s Latest Professional Endeavor Proves She’s Following Closely Behind Dad Kanye — With One Stark Difference

It seems like North West is becoming more and more like her dad by the day. Professionally speaking! When it comes to Kanye “Ye” West’s bigoted tirades — the ones that made NFL legend Tom Brady question Kim Kardashian’s parenting at his Netflix roast — well, let’s hope North isn’t on that path.

It was announced today that North was cast in the upcoming Disney‘s The Lion King 30th Anniversary — A Live-to-Film Concert Event. Though her exact role hasn’t been revealed, it’s a fair assumption to say the 10-year-old will be singing at least one of the iconic songs from the Disney classic.

She is clearly a performer just like her dad. But what sets them apart is that we just can’t see the “Gold Digger” singer signing on to do a Disney concert. Even though he probably “just can’t wait to be king” and likely feels very hakuna matata about his rants — (“No worries if ‘I say some antisemitic sh*t'”) — it still doesn’t seem like something he’d do.

Some fans might be surprised that North took a gig that’s so outside her dad’s wheelhouse given that he’s clearly her muse. In March, the young media personality announced that she’s releasing her first album, Elementary School Drop Out. It’s a nice nod to her dad who won three Grammys for his album, The College Dropout.

The father-daughter duo have performed live before including at Paris Fashion Week (above) and North even had a cameo on her dad’s song “Taking/Once Again.” “It’s your bestie. Miss, Miss Westie!” she raps. “Don’t tryna test me. It’s gonna get messy. Just, just bless me. Bless me!”

This latest move from North is all helping her future dreams come to fruition. Last year, she was a cover star for i-D, and she told the magazine just what she wants to be when she grows up.

“A basketball player, a rapper,” she said. “ … I’m going to do art on the side. When I’m, like, 13, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell.”

“Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner,” she said.

OK, so maybe she’ll follow in the footsteps of her dad and her mom. We could definitely see Kardashian signing on to be a part of a Disney event. After all, she’s already a Nickelodeon star.
