Ryan Reynolds Jokes He & Wife Blake Lively Are Waiting on One Thing to Name Their Fourth Baby

If The Tortured Dads Department was a thing, Ryan Reynolds would be chairman. After all, he just revealed that he and wife Blake Lively are still waiting on one thing to be able to name their fourth baby (born in Feb. 2023!), and it’s gotta be torture waiting this long!

In an appearance on The TODAY Show, the Deadpool star was confronted about the baby’s name, which has been kept a secret so far. Host Savannah Guthrie joked that this interview would “make more news” if he revealed the name of his and Lively’s fourth child. “Taylor Swift keeps dropping [your baby names] into lyrics, so…” Guthrie says in the video, referencing the fact that Reynolds and Lively’s daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, were all featured on the track “Betty” from Folklore.

“[Are] we gonna have to wait for another song?” host Hoda Kotb asks. Like, c’mon, we just got 31 new songs on The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology double record! Surely, it could be hidden on one of those?

“Is the fourth child’s name — the baby’s name — anywhere on the new record [The Tortured Poets Department]?” Guthrie asks the question we are all wondering. And Reynolds finally responds.

“We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is,” Reynolds jokes. “So, uh, and we’ll say this: we’re still waiting.”

C’mon Taylor, you gotta help your friends with their baby name! (Although if Reynolds and Lively are looking for inspiration, there’s tons to choose from through Taylor Swift’s various eras.)

“So, Taylor, let’s maybe start … you know,” he adds. “She’s a prolific writer, I mean, what are we doing here? And ‘lazy’ is not a word I’d attach to Taylor.”

Reynolds and Lively have a close relationship with the “Fortnight” singer. The Gossip Girl alum took her eldest two daughters to see the Eras Tour in May 2023, and Swift gave them a special shout-out during the 10-minute version of “All Too Well.” After the show, Swift walked out hand-in-hand with James while Lively carried Inez.

The girls are big Swift fans. The IF star said on The Jess Cagle Showin 2022, “[Taylor Swift is] like a religion in our house. In fact, I’m not making this up. We are having a Taylor Swift Midnights dance party in, uh, right after this. It’s Sunday. We’re headed straight to the porch where we’re doing a full dance number set to Midnights. Swear words included. My favorite thing is when a 3-year-old is just throwing down the f-bomb in a song.”

Picturing this dance party makes me laugh. (And, BTW, Swift does have clean versions of her albums in case you don’t want your 3-year-old to learn the f word yet.)

Maybe one day Reynolds and Lively will reveal their baby’s name. Until then, we’ll just have to wait for so long …
