It can be hard for toddlers to grasp the concept of a soon-to-be-sibling. (What do you mean there’s a baby in your tummy? Did you eat it?!) But Drew Scott’s 2-year-old son Parker found a unique way to connect with his mom Linda Phan’s pregnancy. The HGTV star shared new pictures of the special moment, and we are melting.
“A work of art! 🎨🖍️” Scott captioned the post on Instagram. Phan is wearing a sports bra and underwear that reveals her growing baby bump in the picture. Her stomach is covered in scribble-scrabble from different colored markers — and Parker was caught red-(and green- and purple-)handed. He stands in front of his mom reaching up to touch her bump with marker drawings on his hands.
In the second photo, Phan shows off his work of art, which covers pretty much her whole bump, including her outie belly button. It’s such a sweet showing of love!
“Masterpiece!” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “Too cute!!😍”
Another offered a suggestion for another art project: “You should make a bellycast, then he can paint it. Ours hangs in our home.”
As the Property Brothers host and his wife get ready to welcome baby number two, Scott admitted that he doesn’t quite remember all that goes into newborn care. “We’ve just been in planning mode,” he told PEOPLE this month. “The funny thing is Parker, they’ll be about two years apart, so Parker will be 2, but I’m already forgetting. … I had little tricks and little techniques and things for changing diapers efficiently and for feeding. I’m forgetting all of it.”
He added, “So I think it’s going to be like a crash course again, as soon as I get into it, to figure it out. But the main thing is Linda’s such a rockstar mom and she pours so much love into Parker and the family, and I try to do the same.”
It may be a hard adjustment, but maybe Parker can help by drawing pictures for his baby sibling!
