Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes for voice actors in an animated film? Well, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just gave a little peek behind the curtain of the filming of the upcoming Disney movie Moana 2, and it involved support from his “greatest motivation”: his 8-year-old daughter Jasmine!
“That’s an official wrap (for now) on MAUI’s portion of our upcoming MOANA 2 🎬🎼🌊🪝,” The Rock captioned a new post on Instagram. “As you see I had the greatest motivation to help me push thru to keep me strong 😉❤️”
The photos show Johnson in the middle of recording his voice for the film. He stands on set, with headphones on and a microphone in front of him, and his daughter sits on the floor. She reaches over to give her dad a fist bump, looking so proud of him.
In the next picture, she rests her chin on her hands as she watches her dad work. It must be so cool to see him in action! There’s also a photo of Jasmine standing next to Johnson, filming him as he records, and a picture of her holding up a light for her dad. Such a sweet and supportive little girl!
The Fast & Furious star gushed about how special it was that his daughter was with him during recording for Moana 2 in his caption. “The more down this windy road of life I go, the more I realize that my greatest and most comforting inspiration and joy, is being loved by my daughters,” Johnson, who shares Jasmine and Tiana, 6, with wife Lauren Hashian, and Simone Johnson, 22, with ex Dany Garcia.
He added, “I have a feeling this little one already knows that about her daddy.”
“This is so cute! You can tell how proud of you she is! 🥹” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “Core memories built.”
Others asked a question we all want to know, like this person who said: “Do your girls finally believe that you are Maui? 🤔”
This in reference to a video Johnson posted way back in 2020. He sang “You’re Welcome” (Maui’s song from the first Moana) to his then-2-year-old daughter Tiana, joking in the caption that it was for the “3,978th time.”
In the clip, he sweetly tells his daughter, “I heard you love a movie called Moana, which is crazy, because I love that movie too! I also heard you watch Moana about 10 times a day because the character you love, Maui, gives you strength. People tell me I kind of sound like him. I just wanted to send you a video to tell you how much I love Maui too. I know a little of his song.”
But when he asked Tia if he was Maui, she firmly said, “No.”
“Baby Tia shutting down the rumor that Maui is actually her daddy,” he quipped in the caption. “Wait ‘til I tell her about the rumor her daddy is also The Rock. No way she’ll believe that one 😂🤷🏽♂️ This kinda stuff makes my day 🙏🏾🖤”
To answer the fan’s question, The Rock responded: “Yes they do now . Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍🙌🙌” So sweet!
