The Currys are officially a family of six! Steph Curry and Ayesha Curry welcomed a baby boy on May 11 — “an early arrival!! — and announced the happy news this week. “He’s doing great and we are finally settling in … So grateful!” the proud parents captioned a joint post on Instagram.
In it, the NBA star shared a black and white photo of Ayesha holding her son’s tiny hand. You can’t see the little nugget’s face, but you can see that he has a FULL head of hair.
Steph also shared his son’s full name, and it’s such an epic alliteration: Caius Chai Curry! That’s a whole lot of Cs. If the newborn’s aunt’s comment is any indication, he’ll go by his middle name — “Chai chai 😍,” Steph’s sister Sydel Curry commented — but both names are so cute. And have super cool meanings.
“Caius” has English, Shakespearean, and Welsh origins. In Welsh, it means “joy” (how fitting!), but it also has ties to the Roman Empire — which Steph might think a lot about (IYKYK). After all, Caius Ligarius was a conspirator against Julius Caesar.
As for “Chai,” it has Hebrew origins and means “life.”
Followers were so excited for the parents of four:
“❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Jessie James Decker wrote.
“Nah my king got a whole squad of Curry’s,” a follower said.
“The 2042 NBA draft finna be crazy 😭🔥 congrats 🍾,” DDG said.
And we have no doubt Lindsay Lohan is also incredibly excited for the couple and their family. In March, she revealed that she always turned to Ayesha — her Irish Wish co-star — for parenting advice. The actress welcomed baby Luai with husband Bader Shammas in 2023 and actually chose Steph and Ayesha to be her son’s godparents. How sweet! They’re just one of many celebrity godparents that we’re so jealous of.
Steph and Ayesha also share kids Riley, 11, Ryan, 8, and Canon, 5. The Sweet July founder got honest earlier this year about how it felt, at 34, to be considered a “geriatric pregnancy.”
“I think there’s something that needs to be more nuanced when it comes to women, their age, and conversations around having children,” she said. “Many women in their 30s and 40s are going through this for the first time, and being told you’re ‘old’ feels alarming and wild.”
We bet the newborn days feel “alarming and wild” too — but for totally different reasons. And hopefully they feel exceptionally special and filled with love. Congratulations to the Currys!
You might be surprised at whose kids have famous celebrity godparents!
