Elisabeth Moss is pregnant with her first child and already thinking about what her daughter’s first summer will look like. And no, it’s not what you might expect. There won’t be the standard daycare or camps. And if there are any vacations planned, they aren’t top of mind. Because Moss will be working, and her daughter will be alongside her: She plans to bring her infant to the set of The Handmaid’s Tale.
Um, talk about an epic way to spend your first summer!
“We’re used to having lots of babies and lots of moms and dads on set, and we’re a very baby and kid-friendly set,” Moss — who plays June in the dystopian drama — told Business Insider. “So I don’t think it’s going to be a huge adjustment for us.”
Moss confirmed she was pregnant with her first child during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January. In case you’re not familiar with The Handmaid’s Tale, the Hulu show is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name and is about a world where women are unwillingly assigned to men and forced to have their children. (Guess it doesn’t sound that dystopian, huh?)
And so when Moss appeared with a baby bump, host Jimmy Kimmel asked, “Are you pregnant or just an incredibly committed method actor?”
“A little bit of both,” Moss said cheekily.
The Mad Men actress told Business Insider she thinks it will be “lovely” to return to set as a new mom. “I think it’ll be a whole new added perspective to life,” she said. “I’m sure I’ll be bringing that to June and to the show.”
“I guess time will tell, but of course, I’m sure it’s going to affect all parts of my life,” she continued.
In 2018, the now 41-year-old actress told Marie Claire UK that she wanted to be a mother and pass down what her mother passed down to her. “I have no idea how I want to do it though, or what the plan is,” she conceded. The public has no idea how she did it either (via a partner, IVF, or both), but now we do know what the plan is — to let Baby Moss experience the final season of an award-winning TV show IRL. And that’s a pretty damn cool plan.
These celebrity moms all welcomed their bundles of joy after 40.
