Khloé Kardashian Says She’s ‘Exhausted’ as a ‘Hands-On’ Parent — & Our Eyebrows Are Raised to the Ceiling

Khloé Kardashian might be in need of a reality check after her latest comments about parenthood are going viral. The Kardashiansstar complained about how “exhausted” she was as a mom to daughter True, 6, and son Tatum, 1, who she shares with ex Tristan Thompson, and we are raising our eyebrows at the insensitivity of it.

It all started on the latest episode of her reality series, which premiered on Hulu yesterday. In it, the Good American founder was complaining about the fact that Thompson — who lives with her as they co-parent together — was out of town, leaving her to parent by herself.

“He’s a big help when he’s here,” she said in the episode, per Page Six. “And, you know, I don’t have nannies at night, which I might have to change or at least have someone be available sometimes.”

Kardashian added that she has no “live in” help right now, adding, “And I’m just so hands-on. It’s, like, cool half the time, but I make all of her lunches, I make her dinners, I do everything. I don’t let anyone else do it. Tristan has done it, but I’m so particular.”

She doubled down on her comments in a confessional, explaining, “Every day after 8:30, when True’s asleep, I am crawling like I’m Leonardo DiCaprio out of ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ to my bed. Like, how do I get there? Then you wake up again and you do it all.”

Mind you, Kardashian is worth $60 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, so she could definitely afford extra help if she wants it. Not having someone live with you to constantly help with your kids is not the flex you think it is. Like, almost no families have that kind of help — plus we work and have to clean our own houses, too. Bosses don’t care if you were up all night with a baby going through a sleep regression or a teething toddler, so don’t try to tell us about exhausted! Not to mention, the fact that she was complaining about doing all the work herself when she likely also has a chef, daytime help, a housekeeper, a personal assistant, and more, feels completely tone deaf.

Commenters felt the same way, with one person sarcastically tweeting, “Khloe Kardashian said she was exhausted while raising her 2 kids without a live-in nanny. It’s extremely challenging for her to prepare her own children’s meals. It’s tiring for her to make sandwiches & cut up fruit for kids all by herself.”

Another said, “Just shut up already! You have maids, chefs, daytime help! Talk to real women who do it all…on their own! Yuck!”

Just because the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum doesn’t have a “live in” nanny, she does still have a nanny. In fact, last June, that nanny shared a message of support for her boss on her Instagram story. Back when True was a baby, people actually criticized her for having a nanny.

“Nanny is in every pic and place she goes. She can mother on her own, we all do it! What a joke,” one person wrote on Instagram. “She literally can’t go to the market, a party, or lunch without her nanny. WTF.”

Kardashian responded: “I can go anywhere and everywhere with whom I choose to. I choose to treat everybody like family that is in my house. I choose to invite whoever wants to come to fun outings. We all love and enjoy the farmers market and it’s so fun to go places and create memories together.”

To be clear, we are not upset about anyone having a nanny to help them — day or not, live in or not. Parenting is the hardest thing in the world, and we all could use extra hands on deck to help out. The problem is Kardashian complaining about how hard and “exhausting” parenting is without once recognizing her extreme privilege that makes life so much easier for her than for the majority of single (or even married) mothers. Being thankful for what you do have goes a long way, even if you still do need to vent.
