We all might as well pack up our cameras, turn off our phones, and give up on capturing the perfect family photos this summer. Because it’s already been done. And we just don’t know how to possibly top James Middleton‘s gorgeous photos and precious video of his wife Alizée Thevenet and their baby son Inigo with two of their dogs.

Honestly, it has us wondering if the photography gene runs in the Middleton family because it seems James has the same interest as his sister Kate.

“I wish moments like this could last forever ❤️ 🐾,” he captioned his carousel which opened with a picture of his 7-month-old son and one of his golden retrievers sitting in a field looking ahead at some trees and a beautiful gate.

The next photo includes Inigo, Thevenet, and two dogs (the family owns six!). They sit in that same field but are facing some sort of fairgrounds that’s off in the distance. They look to be sitting under a tree and one of the dogs rests its head in Inigo’s lap. (It’s too stinkin’ cute!)

The final slide is a video of the four sitting in that same spot, with Inigo splitting his interest between the dog and the grass, and the pup vying for Thevenet’s attention. The other doggo is so chill, watching from behind.

The way the light is hitting the family in all the shots is, as one follower said, “Absolutely golden ❤️.” The only thing that would have made the shots better is if James could have been in them too. (After all, we know how cute he and Inigo look together when they’re twinning.)

“This special moment is all thanks to Ella,” Middleton said of his late therapy dog. ” … Ella introduce[d] me to Alizée, a few years later we got married, another year or so later Inigo arrived. Ella and Inigo never met but every moment Ella is with us.”

“So if it wasn’t for that moment…I would not have been able to capture this moment ❤️,” Middleton continued.

The whole thing is so sweet and sentimental and a touching reminder of the profound impact a pet can have on a person’s life. Middleton was so moved by Ella that he actually wrote a book about her, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life. It should be available in September, but for now, we know that not only did Ella apparently save his life, but in many ways, he started it — and his family — too.
