Pregnancy isn’t exactly a walk in the park at any age, but getting pregnant in your 50s could feel like hiking up a steep mountain in stormy weather. Many women, including celebrities, do it, though. Naomi Cambell welcomed her daughter at age 50 and her son at age 53. And now a new celebrity is joining the pregnant-over-50 crowd: Boy Meets Worldalum Trina McGee (who played Shawn’s girlfriend Angela in the hit ‘90s series). She just announced she is expecting a baby at 54 years old — and our hearts go out to her as she asks fans for “prayers” on her journey.
In an Instagram post Monday, McGee shared text set to “Baby Love” by The Supremes. “At the tender age of 54 I have found myself pregnant,” she wrote. “Please bless us with your prayers for a safe delivery. Thank you.”
In the caption, she said that she’s going to “sign off social media for a bit.” “Thanks for your prayers and well wishes in advance,” she added.
People were full of encouragement for McGee. “54?!?! Years old?!?! I mean yeah congratulations on the baby but how are you 54?!” one person wrote. “Happened to Janet [Jackson] at 50 …. if God made our bodies this way, who are we to question. Congratulations ❤️🙌🏽💪🏾👑🍼” someone else wrote.
“Awwwwww, congratulations . 🎊🎉❤️😍🥰🙏👏🙌. Looking forward to seeing baby Trina 😊,” another person commented.
The Classmates star has been married to actor/producer/director Marcello Thedford for 16 years, per PEOPLE. Prior to that, she welcomed two kids with ex-husband Randall Courtland Davis, who she was married to from 1991-2001. She also has a child from a previous relationship.
The actress is currently in Belize, where she shared a picture of herself in a blue tank top, white skirt, and straw hat. “If I show up at your door with a coconut cake we bout to have fun,” she quipped in the caption.
Someone commented, “the bump! 😍” McGee replied, “yup.”
“Glowing!!!!” another person praised.
In April, McGee opened up about being pregnant while filming Boy Meets World. “That time I played a teenager but in reality I was 6 months pregnant,” she wrote on Instagram. In the video, she showed a picture from the series, where she wore a baggy sweater to hide her bump.
Back in 2019, she shared another photo of her and co-stars Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong in an episode where they went to prom. “26 years… hmmm…” she reflected on the photo on Twitter. “well little did you know that in this pic my youngest baby was growing. Wife, mother, Trina McGee was having a baby … Angela was stuck behind a punch bowl at the prom as consequence. The child that was inside me is now a grown man. What a prom.”
Her pregnancies have certainly been memorable!
These celebrity moms all welcomed their bundles of joy after 40.
