Nicole Kidman Earned Cool Points With Her Teen Daughters Thanks to Her Latest Movie

It’s not easy to look cool in the eyes of your teens, but Nicole Kidman figured out the secret sauce — just work with celebrities your kids love! (Easy, right?) While that won’t work for most of us, it did help the Big Little Lies star, who shares daughter Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13, with husband Keith Urban. The Australian actress shared how one particular co-star in her latest film seriously impressed her girls.

At the premiere of her new movie A Family Affair, Kidman revealed that her daughters love her co-star Joey King. Kidman, who also stars with Zac Efron in the Netflix movie, told Entertainment Tonight, “They really fangirl over Joey. Which is nice, right? They’ve grown up with Joey.”

The 24-year-old is known for roles in The Kissing Booth, The Act, and We Were The Lucky Ones, and she even appeared in Taylor Swift’s 2023 music video for “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version).” So it’s really no surprise that her daughters are obsessed, which in turn, makes their mom seem much cooler.

Although the girls were missing from the red carpet at this movie. The Expats star joked, “The only thing they ever came to was the AFI, so they’re off doing their own thing,” referencing the teens’ rare appearance at the AFI Lifetime Achievement Awards, which they attended with their parents.

In March, another A-lister gave Kidman some street cred with her kids. The “obsessed” singer made a TikTok lip-synching to Kidman’s AMC Theatres commercial, where she mouthed along to Kidman’s voice at her concert saying: “We come to this place for magic.” Kidman praised Rodrigo on her Instagram story, writing, “You just won me some major points with my girls! Adore you, @oliviarodrigo xx 😂🤍👏.”

Outside of her fame though, Kidman’s teens adore their mom and vice versa. In a March interview with Elle, the Nine Perfect Strangers star said, “I love teenage girls. I just find them exquisite. I marvel at that age group and what they’re dealing with, but also their ability to handle so much.”

She also talked about how she enjoys giving back to others. “I like being a part of something not about my work, not about who I am, none of that. Just a citizen who’s in the world. And my kids love that, too, when I do that.”

These celebrity parents are sharing the struggle — and sweetness — of raising teenagers.
