After a big Super Bowl win, the Kansas City Chiefs are back in action and gearing up for the 2024 football season. The titled team just returned to training camp, meaning quarterback Patrick Mahomes also returned to press conferences. He fielded questions from sports reporters yesterday that were as much about family as they were about football.
Because, in case you missed it, Patrick shares two kids with his wife Brittany Mahomes — and they just announced Baby No. 3 is on the way. It might sound like a lot for the 28-year-old to handle (heck, one kid for a parent of any age is a lot to handle), but it’s exactly how Patrick wanted it.
“I always wanted to have kids young,” he said. “I got to grow up in the locker room, I think I’ve talked about it before — it made such an impact in my life, so I wanted to have kids young.”
Does that mean the First Family of Football will be expanding even further? A reporter asked the NFL star how he plans to manage his career and his home life, and he had a simple quip.
“I’m done. I’ll say that,” he joked. “I said three and I’m done.”
Patrick and Brittany share a 3-year-old daughter Sterling and a 1-year-old son Bronze, and yesterday Patrick felt the need to apologize to his little guy. He posted a photo of Bronze from behind on his Instagram Story, and his slightly disheveled but oh-so-enviable curls are on full display.
“Sorry for the hair bro runs in the family,” Patrick wrote over the picture with two laughing emojis.
And it certainly does! Brittany has wavy blonde hair and Patrick has tight brown curls and coils so it’s no wonder they have curly-haired kiddos. Last year, Brittany shared her secret weapon for keeping her kids’ curls looking so shiny and luscious. “Products for Sterling’s hair? Her curls are so beautiful,” one fan said in an Instagram Q&A.
The co-owner of the Kansas City Current said all it takes is water and a $6 leave-in conditioner! Well, that and great genes.
While Brittany might be on haircare duty, it seems like Patrick is all about storytime with the kiddos. Earlier this year, Brittany shared a heartwarming photo of her high school sweetheart in total dad mode, reading Goodnight, God to their kids before putting them to bed. We bet these little moments are just as important to Patrick as their big adventures (like their epic European vacation!).
“I spend so much time in the [Kansas City Chiefs] building at football for these eight, seven months, and whenever I’m with my family, I wanna enjoy those moments,” Patrick told reporters.
