Katy Perry’s Sweet New Song Was Inspired by a Heart-Melting Moment With Daughter Daisy

It’s a “Woman’s World” — and Katy Perry’s daughter Daisy Dove is helping to shape it! Perry’s 3-year-old daughter, who she shares with partner Orlando Bloom, helped inspire a song on her mom’s upcoming seventh album 143, and the story behind it will melt your heart.

The American Idol judge revealed that her new single, “Lifetimes” was inspired by her daughter in an interview on The One Show on Thursday, per Hello! Magazine. She explained, “Obviously I tell her ‘I love you’ before she goes to bed every night, but I’ve started telling her ‘will you find me in every lifetime?’ and she says ‘yes.’”

Will you find me in every lifetime?! Cue the tears! This is such an adorable question and a sweet way to show how a mother’s love is eternal.

During the interview, Perry shared another heartfelt mother-daughter moment with her toddler. “The sweetest thing is we’ve been all over Europe this summer, and we’ve been to a lot of beaches,” she said. “And I bought a big stack of chocolate gold coins, and when we’re building sandcastles, I will hide them as she’s digging and she will find them, so she loves finding chocolate coins.” It sounds like something straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean.

“So the other day I said ‘will you find me in every lifetime’ and she said ‘yes, and we’ll find chocolate coins together!’” Perry added. “So I just think you can find your soulmate, it can be your best friend, your pet, your daughter, it can be your son, aunt, partner; they come in many shapes and forms and they surprise you.” Aww, her soulmate! I love that.

Earlier this month, the “Teenage Dream” singer has shared several photos of her summer vacation with her little girl. “Woman’s World, work/life balance edition 😎🏝️💞,” she captioned one post from Sardinia, Italy, where she spent time painting rocks with Daisy and swimming in the ocean.

Another time, she shared photos of her holding up a bunch of floaties on the beach, dancing, and having fun on vacation. She also shared an adorable picture of her daughter holding up a tiny daisy for the camera. “WOMAN’S WORLD: sister/mother/partner/funtie/kvnty/almost 40 and FABULOUS edition 💋” she cheekily captioned the post.

It seems like Daisy’s having a wonderful summer making memories with her mom, and we can’t wait to see her reflected in Perry’s new song!
