Ryan Reynolds is famously tight-lipped about his family life with his wife Blake Lively and their four kids, but he has been sharing the sweetest tidbits lately as he promotes Deadpool & Wolverine. He just revealed that their fourth child — who they welcomed last February and had been hush-hush about — is a sweet little boy named Olin, and now he’s getting candid about the bittersweet realities of fatherhood.
Along with 1-year-old Olin, Reynolds shares daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4. And based on a recent appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, it seems like he’s already thinking about what it will be like to be an empty nester.
And so the constant mess in his house doesn’t phase him.
“Embrace the chaos,” he said. ” … [My wife] always says, ‘They’re all under our roof right now. The whole family’s under our roof right now. We have them all.’”
“And that is a fleeting thing,” he said, getting more nostalgic. “Not an infinite resource, you know?”
You know what else isn’t infinite? The amount of space in one bed. And Reynolds revealed that there are nights when some of the four kids can’t fall asleep unless they climb in bed with him and the Gossip Girl star. Inconvenient as it may seem, Reynolds is soaking up every [slightly squished] second.
“I would love to spread out and fall asleep normally again,” he said. “Just say, ‘Think about what you would give in 40 years or 30 years to come back and enjoy this one moment.’”
We’re not crying! You’re crying!
Earlier this month, Lively [jokingly?!] made it sound like having a fifth baby wasn’t off the table. Reynolds was at an event holding a dog named Peggy who is affectionately known as “Mary Puppins” or “Dogpool.” The tiny doggo has wild hair and a tongue that is permanently sticking out.
“She won Ugliest Dog in Britain, but we’re not telling her that because she is a 10 in our hearts, isn’t she?” Reynolds said, giving the pooch a smooch on the head. “And that tongue, by the way, is real. And I have tasted it.”
Well, that got Lively feeling some kind of way because she quickly shared the video on her Instagram Story along with a hilarious message. “SOS,” she wrote, with a red alarm sticker. “He’s trying to get me pregnant again.”
“Put the dog that you find adorable in spite of societal k9 expectations away and take off the damn teal suit! Rude.”
