Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens aren’t parents yet, but the professional athletes are clear on one thing they wouldn’t do with their future kids.
During a new interview with People, the NFL player revealed that raising kids with the Olympic gymnast is “for sure” part of their plan. Biles and Owens don’t, however, plan on forcing their children to follow in their athletic footsteps.
“If that’s what they want to do — I’m not going to try to force anything on them,” the Chicago Bears safety said. “Obviously they’re going to know what their parents did, so that’ll be just something cool for them to look at and for us to be able to relive those stories and memories with them. And she’s big on taking pictures and we’ll have stuff framed up for them,” Owens added of Biles.
“But honestly, whatever they want to do, I’ll just support them a hundred percent,” he continued. “I don’t want to force ’em and make it feel like ‘You have to do this because we did.’ That does generally work out for kids,” Owens opined.
On Tuesday, Biles appeared on Today, and she opened up about her hopes of having children with the football player. The 11-time Olympic medalist revealed, “Me and Jonathan always talk about kids. He would have them, like, yesterday if he could have,” she joked.
Biles continued, “Obviously we both have goals that we want to achieve before we start a family. But yes, that’s definitely in our future.” Today host Hoda Kotb asked the elite gymnast if she sees herself as a mom, and Biles answered, “Yes, most definitely.”
The couple is on a golden high right now in the aftermath of Biles’ three gold medals and one silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and their future looks to be just as bright with plans for babies who can be whatever they want to be with their parents’ full support.
