Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 1, may be too young to listen to their mom’s song “B*tch Better Have My Money” or their dad’s “I Smoked Away My Brain” — but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of other great, less explicit tunes they could jam out to. Unfortunately for RiRi and Rocky, though, the boys have their hearts set on a different type of music. Mind-numbingly annoying learning songs that every toddler is obsessed with: Cocomelon. And their dad isn’t a fan.
The rapper told Billboardin a new interview Thursday that his sons watch the musical show, and he can’t handle it. “That sh-t is driving me nuts!” he told the outlet. Yes, thank you! There’s something about the practically-bald-headed little kid and the repeating animation and repetitive songs that’s just so annoying. Obviously, listening to Cocomelon’s version of “Wheels on the Bus” is preferable to hearing your toddler scream from the backseat, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it.
“Don’t tell my girl I said that,” the AWGE founder added with a laugh. “I’m totally joking, I don’t give a s–t. She’s tired of it, too, probably.”
Unless she’s a saint (or she’s lying!), there’s no way Rihanna isn’t tired of the preschool music too.
Maybe one day, the “Diamonds” singer will release her own kids’ album! For now, though, she’s just enjoying singing what her kids like. Rihanna told Interview Magazinein April that she sings “Penguins Salute” and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” to her kids. “Oh my gosh. RZA gets really emotional about that [one],” she added.
“And now he’s really into ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,’” the Fenty Beauty founder went on. “’The Wheels on the Bus’ is a favorite from the beginning till now. That’s just a classic. It’s never going out of style.” She went on, “And oh, the new ‘Incy Wincy Spider,’ because he gets like, ‘Ahh,’ like he thinks I’m going to tickle him when I sing that one. And he has a book about that, so he can put two and two together.”
At least it’s not all Cocomelon, right? And don’t worry, John Legend is releasing his own children’s album soon, so hope is on the horizon for parents tired of the same old songs!
