How Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, & Prince George Are Making Sweet Summer Memories, According to Insiders

Summer is all about freedom, exploration, and family time for the royal family. It’s a time when things quiet down and everyone reconnects at the family’s estate in Balmoral in Scotland, a tradition beloved by the late Queen Elizabeth II. This month, King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla visited the home with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three kids, and royal insiders have dished exactly how they think the siblings will be making sweet summer memories.

Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, have been going with the family to Balmoral since they were babies, so are very familiar with the grounds. So they are likely enjoying playing with their cousins, including Mike and Zara Tindall’s children Mia, Lena, and Lucas, and Peter Phillips’ daughters, Savannah and Isla Phillips, per Hello! Magazine. They can enjoy running around and exploring the grounds, a playhouse, and an arboretum named after Prince George.

There’s also going to be tons of delicious food during their stay (a must for kids!), including fresh fruits from the garden. Former royal chef Darren McGrady, who worked in the royal kitchens for the late Queen Elizabeth and was a private chef for Princess Diana, Prince Harry, and Prince William, shared an example of something he would make during the summer.

“Today I’m going to share with you a no bake cheesecake recipe,” he said on his YouTube channel, per Hello!“In Balmoral Castle’s gardens, they have an abundance of raspberries, strawberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, gooseberries — all the soft berries — Scotland has the perfect climate for growing these. The royal family would have those berries most nights just to take out on a picnic, or take out to the hills during a barbecue, but at the same time we’d have to come up with new ideas and new recipes.” Sounds amazing!

Last month, royal expert Jennie Bond shared some thoughts on how the royal kids would spend their school holidays, per OK!“Just like in the late queen’s reign, time at Balmoral is family time. And, if the King gets the chance, he will relish the chance to hang out with his grandchildren by reading them stories, teaching them about the wildlife around them, playing cards, and enjoying picnics … weather permitting!” Bond said.

Even the Princess of Wales, who is currently going through cancer treatment, made the trip to Balmoral this year. She was spotted on a rare public outing with Prince William and Prince George in a car on their way to a church service at Crathie Kirk in Scotland on Sunday, according to Daily Mail, where she seemed relaxed and happy.

It sounds like a summer from a fairytale, filled with special outdoor adventures, family time, and fresh fruits. There’s nothing more kids could ever want, royal or not!
