We know a lot of celebrity parents like to give their children lavish gifts, but the latest one from Joshua Jackson just might be the most wholesome and endearing display of a celebrity parent’s wealth yet. On an Instagram Live with his Dawson’s Creek co-star Sasha Alexander, Jackson revealed that he bought his childhood home from the current resident for his daughter Juno to grow up in.
How incredible (and incredibly huge!) is that? While some celebrities could buy their infant a mansion with the snap of their fingers, Jackson went back to his roots and bought something far more meaningful. We’re seriously swooning over here!
“Something that’s become really clear to me in this year since I asked for the divorce [from Juno’s mom Jodie Turner-Smith] is that I kinda thought, you know in all the dreams you have when you have a baby, the thing I wanted to model for my daughter was like, ‘Here’s two parents, here’s what a man and a woman can look like in a home, in a happy, healthy relationship,'” Jackson said, per People.
“But what I’ve realized in this last year is I never got to experience the love of a father,” the Doctor Odyssey star continued. “And I’m getting to experience it now. And that’s what this house is for.”
Jackson also called Juno his “north star,” getting sentimental about what she means to him and how she inspires him to do good.
“I love being a dad and I love being her dad,” he said. “I have failed often but I always wanted to be a good man and that’s not always an easy path and I have not always walked that path.”
“Now that I’m a father, it makes the weight easier,” he continued. “If it’s a bad decision, as a father, it’s just not a decision I’m going to make.”
And while some might think this (incredibly sweet, incredibly expensive) present for little Juno is the best gift, Jackson would beg to differ. According to him, she’s the “greatest gift.”
*Cue waterworks!*
Earlier this month, Jackson shared a sweet story about a gift that his “greatest gift” gave to him. And no, it didn’t involve signing a mortgage. It was a beautiful pipe cleaner necklace with an array of colorful beads.
“This morning after breakfast I told my daughter I was going to go do some yard work,” Jackson captioned a photo where he’s proudly modeling the jewelry. “She asked if she could come with me, which is of course a yes. So after picking out a new outfit and doing a full change from inside clothes to outside clothes we were just about to step outside when she said, ‘Daddy, I think inside play is what I need right now.’”
“So I leave her with her granny and go do my dad therapy in the yard and when I come back in, she presents me with this necklace,” Jackson continued.
Juno said she wanted to stay inside to make the necklace for him, and she had the most precious response when he asked her to take a photo of him wearing it:
“‘It’s good for you to have a photo so you can always remember that I love you.'”
Are you kidding me?! Someone buy that little sweetie a house! (Oh wait … )
“So this is the exact moment my heart was melted by this amazing little big girl for the bajilionth time,” he concluded. “Little one, if you see this when you are old enough to read-get off instagram immediately. And also, I know. And I love you too. And I am so thankful that I get to be your dada.”
These celebrity fathers are all proud to be “girl dads.”
