Lionel Richie Gushes About His Sweet Relationship With Granddaughter Eloise Samantha

Lionel Richie is the proud grandfather of a precious 4-month-old, and he can barely contain his excitement when talking about the little girl. In an interview with E! News, he excitedly gushed about little Eloise Samantha, who his daughter Sofia Richie shares with husband Elliot Grainge.

“I have a problem,” Richie admitted, wide-eyed and shaking his head in bliss when asked about his bond with Eloise. The musician adorably gushed about his granddaughter, skipping from topic to topic as though he couldn’t get the praise out fast enough.

“You know, it’s like the thing where you can just blow on the stomach and the little smile comes on the face,” he said. “I could just stick her in my pocket and take her around town.”

In January, well before Eloise and her “quiet luxury” name made the internet swoon, Richie revealed why he isn’t called “grandpa.” The “All Night Long” singer told Entertainment Tonight that his other grandkids — daughter Nicole Richie’s 16-year-old daughter Harlow and 14-year-old son Sparrow — have a moniker for him that little Eloise will likely have to follow.

“I’m Pop-Pop,” he said. “We don’t get the ‘grandpa,’ yeah, that’s a little deep. Pop-Pop is where we’re going.”

Over the summer, Sofia opened up to The Wall Street Journalabout how motherhood was changing her priorities and her self-proclaimed Type A personality.

“Now as a mom, I think I’ll create some more boundaries,” the model said. “If I’ve gotta go to fashion week, then [Eloise is] going to pack her bags and come with me. If she can’t, then I’m not going to be able to make it.”

“I’m a very scheduled, organized person,” she continued. “ … But I’ve also learned that I don’t have to be that way because when you have a baby, all of that kind of goes out the window. I’ve learned that I’m more flexible than I think.”

Flexible enough to let Pop-Pop tote Eloise around town in his pocket blowing raspberries on her tummy at every possible pitstop?!
