In this week’s issue of Hello!, the outlet’s chief content officer, Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon, wrote about her experience meeting Prince Harry at the WellChild Awards late last month. Vokes-Dudgeon described the Duke of Sussex’s “infectious” energy and how he spoke “animatedly” about his children. She also revealed that Prince Harry shared a little-known tidbit about his kids Prince Archie, 5 and Princess Lilibet, 3 who he shares with wife Meghan Markle.
“Archie and Lili have been blessed with their mother’s thick hair, he told us, self-effacingly, as he marveled that it won’t be long until Lili can sit on hers,” Vokes-Dudgeon wrote.
Pictures of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are exceedingly rare, so we had no idea the young royals had thick hair like Markle. And let us just say, we’re incredibly jealous considering Markle has gorgeous locks. It must certainly be a stark contrast to Prince Harry and his brother Prince William’s thinning hair.
But Prince Harry’s DNA isn’t entirely absent when it comes to his kids’ hair. During an interview with Stephen Colbert, Prince Harry spoke of his late mother Princess Diana Spencer, and her family’s penchant for red hair. (ICYMI: Prince Harry and all three of his mom’s siblings are redheads.)
“The Spencer gene is very, very strong,” he said, per People.
“I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship [with Markle] that, should this go the distance and we have kids, that there’s no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes — but I was wrong!” the Duke continued.
OK, so the Sussex kids have thick red hair and Princess Lilibet’s is getting longer by the day. If she can practically sit on her hair, it sounds like she might take after her cousin Princess Charlotte too! Prince William and Kate Middleton’s secondborn has extremely long locks.
Last week, an insider revealed what other sweet traits the Sussex siblings share (besides their thick red hair). “They’re so well-mannered,” a source told UsMagazine. “Archie is sweet and curious and playful, and Lili is vibrant and happy.”
