Olympians have descended on Beijing and are now anticipating their moment in the spotlight. Here are five top male athletes who have some special fans rooting them on — their kids.
Christian Cantwell
When Christian Cantwell was told in high school to pick up a shot put and throw it, he couldn’t have known that moment would lead him to the Olympics.
The 26-year-old Missouri native was devastated when he didn’t make the Olympic team in 2004. But he kept trying and made it this year. But Cantwell was disappointed that making the team didn’t come as a huge aha moment. “I always thought there would be this big ahhhhh moment,” he told Kentucky.com. “That didn’t happen.”
Nonetheless, hopefully it will still serve as a lesson to his two-month old son, Jackson: keep trying and you can make dreams happen.
