Expectant mom’s guide to baby gear

Bath time

Bathtub

Babies are slippery when wet, so you’ll need a tub that keeps baby safe while giving you a free hand to bathe her. Tubs that convert to toddler bath seats seem practical but receive lower safety ratings.

Soap and lotion

Johnson & Johnson tear-free Baby Wash in the classic yellow container is ideal for bath time. Use it on baby’s skin and hair — no separate shampoo needed. You may also consider a bath visor, too, so you can easily rinse baby’s hair without getting water and suds in little eyes. Follow up with baby body lotion or oil to keep baby’s delicate skin well moisturized. Gordon recommends pump-top rather than flip-top containers so you can dispense the product with one hand.

Towels and washcloths

Soft, absorbent cotton is perfect for washing and drying baby. Gordon recommends stocking up on at least two hooded towels (to keep baby’s head warm) and several washcloths.
