Commit to family time
It’s all too easy to let the days and weeks slip away without spending quality time with the kids. Make family time a priority, whether it’s by way of family meals, a weekly game night, or regular
outings. You will see benefits from this time spent with your kids and spouse — teens who participate in regular family dinners are far less
likely to abuse drugs, and girls who eat at least five times a week with their families are 33% less likely to develop eating disorders.
- By the end of the month, determine how you’ll make time for each other, and communicate the plan to everyone.
- By the end of April, make sure your plan has gone into effect, and keep up your commitment.
- By the end of August, add in a monthly family gathering where you can all spend extra time together.
- By the end of November, plan how you’ll preserve your family time during the busy holiday season.
Give back to those around you
The holidays are a natural time to get excited about charitable giving and volunteer work — but the need continues all year round. Make it a priority for your family to find a way to contribue to
worthy causes — either financially or with your time and effort.
- By the end of the month, figure out what you’ll do to give back.

- By the end of August, each member of your family can invite one other person to join you in your charitable activity.
