Crunchy Christmas Snack Mix
|
Mix up a batch of this healthy treat the kids will go wild for! To make Crunchy Christmas Snack Mix, just toss together 2 cups Chex cereal, 2 cups Cheerios, 2 cups pretzels, 2 cup pecans, 2 cups peanuts and 1 cup dried cranberries . Melt 1 cup butter and stir in 2 tablespoons maple syrup, 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper and 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning. Pour the butter mixture over the cereal mixture and gently stir until well-coated. Spread the snack mix on a baking tray and cook at 350 degrees F. for one hour, gently tossing every 15 minutes to ensure it bakes evenly. Voila!
Frosty the Snowman Pretzels
This is a super fun kid snack that your children will love to help you make. All you need is a bag of pretzel rods, white almond bark, gumdrops, fruit leather, mini chocolate chips, sprinkles and other miscellaneous candy decorations. Melt the almond bark in the microwave according to the directions on the package. Dip the pretzel rods into the white chocolate and use a knife to spread until it coats 70 percent of the pretzel. Let your children use their imagination to decorate the snowmen. Gumdrops make great hats, strips of fruit leather transform into adorable scarves, mini chocolate chips become buttons and eyes… the possibilities are endless!
Christmas Fruit Kabobs
These Christmas Fruit Kabobs are a cinch to make and won’t spoil anyone’s dinner! Just cut up wedges of colorful healthy fruit to thread on wooden skewers. Any fruit will do, but it’s lots of fun to include red and green favorites like kiwi, pear, green grapes, apples, cherries and strawberries. Serve cold with strawberry yogurt for dipping.
Rice Krispies Ornaments
Rice Krispies treats have never been more festive. Just make a batch according to the directions on the box. Cut out with cookie cutters into the shape of Christmas ornaments. These can be decorated a variety of ways, but our favorite is to dip them into melted chocolate almond bark, holding just the top of the ornament out of the chocolate. Place the dipped ornaments on parchment paper and then decorate them with colorful Christmas sprinkles. The children will have a blast creating festive designs on each ornament. Let the Christmas magic begin!
