About five years back, the term Cyber Monday was coined to describe the growing popularity of online sales starting the Monday immediately following Black Friday. With the influx of online shopping options, Cyber Monday quickly topped the charts of biggest shopping days of the year.
The best part of Cyber Monday? You never have to leave the comfort of your couch. You’re probably still full from Thanksgiving dinner (and several reheated leftover variations) and thus are still wearing your fat pants — the ones you reserve for lounging in around the house and are never to be seen by the outside world. Online shopping = parent safety
To me, Cyber Monday is also about safety. You’ve seen those crazy parents on the news that got in a brawl over the last Tickle Me Elmo or Dancing Mickey, right? I’m a mother — I can’t get beat up while merely trying to get my kids some great stocking stuffers. It’s just not worth the risk! Therefore, Cyber Monday has become my favorite way to shop and still benefit from those Black Friday style steals.

Cyber Monday has grown into its own entity so much so that is has entire websites dedicated to outing its best deals. CyberMonday2011.com has already posted a comprehensive list of sales and coupon codes for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Parents will appreciate sales like the Dora Saves the Snow Princess computer learning game for just 99 cents. Coupon site RetailMeNot.com has organized Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals into easy to search categories like electronics, clothes, toys and more, and even listed the top 10 toy stores with Cyber Monday sales like Amazon, Target, and Toys “R” Us.
Department store deals
Many department stores like Kohl’s and JC Penney are already advertising sneak peek Cyber Monday deals, offering between 10 and 70 percent off nearly everything in their stores and free shipping when you spend a certain amount. Target has a particularly intriguing Cyber Monday page on its site that promises special offers and cool stuff “just for you” if you have a Target account.
The thought of my kids unwrapping their most coveted treasures come Christmas morning without having to run all over town to track down said treasures? Forget Black Friday — bring on Cyber Monday!
