Inked: Moms with tattoos

“I have a huge phobia of getting an IV and was made fun of quite a bit by the nurse who was trying to install it in my arm (with ungloved hands) when I was admitted for the birth of my son. Apparently I must enjoy pain thoroughly to look the way I do. It got frustrating, because I have a pretty normal pain tolerance, and having your nurse’s bedside manner go out the window because of your appearance can be unsettling. Between that and having nurse’s complain when drawing my blood because they couldn’t see any of my veins through my tattoos, I was pretty over being stuck with needles by the end of my pregnancy.”
