As a mom blogger, it’s important to be connected as much as possible. Technology allows you to literally be connected 24/7, but is that a good thing? Do you ever just unplug?

The scenario
As a mom blogger, you work from home.
As a mom blogger, you work around the clock.
As a mom blogger, you create your own schedule.
As a mom blogger, you quickly discover that there’s always someone “up” and on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.
You could literally work 24/7 if you let yourself.
But is that a good thing?

Question: Do you unplug on the weekends?
Mom Generations
@AudreyMcClellan
I have to be honest, I don’t.
I really, really don’t.
It’s not good, I know.
It’s something that I absolutely need to work on. I’m one of those people who has a very difficult time turning it off. It doesn’t matter if it’s 7 a.m., or 10 p.m. on a Friday, I don’t turn my work off.
Believe me, it drives my husband crazy!
But I do not unplug on the weekends, it’s always business as usual for me. I’m still up early. I’m still blogging away. I’m still on Twitter. I’m still on Facebook. And I’m still emailing. It’s just in me and I can’t seem to shake my “normal” routine.
Unplugging on weekends?
Yeah… what’s that?

I think it’s so important for moms to unplug on the weekends. We are typically always so busy during the week and in order to reset, unplugging is an absolute necessity. My children look forward to a few days of relaxing and bonding with us after their full weekday schedules. For 48 hours, there’s no homework, no work calls, no business events — just the four of us doing what families do best.
I think it’s great that we are all so much more productive these days, but at what cost?
It almost seems that it’s no longer enough to just sit and relax. We need our phones, our iPads, our Kindles, our Twitter stream, and our Facebook apps.
When I was younger, all we needed was a sunny day! I want to be sure to teach my children that it’s OK just to… be. Truth be told, this is a lesson that I still need to learn as well. I’m conscious of it — that’s a start, right?
Summer is fast approaching and this year my family has a new motto. Do absolutely nothing!
