Best celebrity baby names of 2012

It’s been a great year for celebrity baby names. From Reese Witherspoon’s baby boy to Katherine Heigl’s daughter, celebrity babies are setting trends for classic names in 2012.

Adalaide Marie Hope

Little Adalaide Marie Hope joined big sister Naleigh in Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley’s family early this summer. Old fashioned with a newer spelling, Adalaide is a classic name that pairs well with the more unique Naleigh. Heigl and Kelley adopted both daughters and have embraced parenting with delight and confidence, often sharing photos of their girls.

James Timothy and Fiona Leigh

Community star Danny Pudi and wife Bridget welcomed twins in January. Fans of Pudi’s character Abed on Community may have expected a zany set of names for his first children, but Pudi and his wife chose classic, pretty names James and Fiona. We love this breath of fresh air when it comes to celebrity baby names.

Samuel Garner

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck bounced back from baby name blunder Seraphina with the strong, classic name Samuel for their third child and first son. We love the use of Garner’s last name as Samuel’s middle name. He joins big sisters Seraphina and Violet in this down to Earth Hollywood brood.

Blue Ivy

When Beyonce and Jay-Z announced Blue Ivy’s birth, it unleashed confusion regarding the infant girl’s name. Many thought it was Ivy Blue. While Blue Ivy isn’t one of our very favorite names, we must include it as a top name of 2012 for making such a splash. Though the couple was recently denied a trademark on the name Blue Ivy, it’s sure to continue making waves.

Finn Davey

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott welcomed their fourth child, Finn Davey, in August. We love the classic appeal of Finn, a name that’s growing in popularity. Finn joins Hattie, Liam, Stella and half-brother Jack. Hattie and Finn are about ten months apart. It remains to be seen if this will make them guaranteed playmates or rivals.

Theadora Rose

British pop star Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field welcomed their first child, Theadora Rose, in September. They affectionately call their young daughter Teddy, an adorable tomboy nickname for an otherwise fussy name for an infant. Teddy gets our vote as a super cute name for a baby girl to grow up with.

Macallister

After playfully crowdsourcing her baby boy’s name, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer announced that she and husband Zachary Bogue would be naming him Macallister. Perhaps one of the most famous working moms, Mayer is a business icon in the tech world. We agree with this power couple that Macallister Bogue has a nice ring to it.

Tennessee James

The places-as-names trend continues with baby boy Tennessee James, Reese Witherspoon’s third child and first with husband Jim Toth. Tennessee is quirky without being overly unusual. He joins older brother and sister Deacon Reese and Ava Elizabeth.
