Chicka Chicka Boom Boom craft
What you’ll need:
- paper towel roll
- brown paint
- paint brush
- green craft foam
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- foam alphabet stickers
What you’ll do:
- Paint the paper towel roll with the brown paint and let it dry.
- While the paint dries, draw some palm tree leaves on the craft foam and cut them out with the scissors.
- Glue the foam leaves to the inside of one end of the paper towel roll.
- As you read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, stick foam alphabet stickers to the tree.
The Cat in the Hat craft
What you’ll need:
- oatmeal canister
- white paint
- paint brush
- red construction paper
- scissors
- glue
- small paper plate
- hole punch
- elastic
What you’ll do:
- Empty out the oatmeal canister and remove any labels. Paint the sides and bottom of the canister with the white paint.
- Once the paint has dried, cut strips of red construction paper that are 1-1/2 inches wide and long enough to wrap all the way around the canister.
- Glue the red strips to the canister to make the red stripes.
- Turn the paper plate upside down and glue the canister to the bottom of it.
- Once the glue is dry, punch a hole on either side of the paper plate. Thread the elastic through it and tie a knot on each end to make a chin strap.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar craft
What you’ll need:
- green construction paper
- red construction paper
- yellow construction paper
- brown construction paper
- scissors
- glue
- markers
What you’ll do:
- Cut six strips from the green construction paper that are 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
- Glue the end of the strips together to form a ring.
- Glue the green rings together to make a chain.
- Cut an oval out of the red construction paper, glue it to the end of the chain to make the caterpillar’s face.
- Cut two small ovals out of yellow construction paper, and two slightly smaller ovals out of green construction paper. Glue the green ovals on top of the yellow ovals to make the eyes, then glue the eyes to the caterpillar’s face.
- Cut two skinny strips from the brown paper. Glue them to the top of the caterpillar’s face to make the antennae.
- Draw a nose on the caterpillar’s face with a marker.
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie craft
What you’ll need:
- paper plate
- light brown construction paper
- dark brown construction paper
- scissors
- glue
What you’ll do:
- Cut the light brown construction paper into 1/2-inch squares.
- Glue the squares to the back of the paper plate so that they cover the entire plate.
- Cut several small circles out of the dark brown construction paper.
- Glue the small circles on to the back of the paper plate to make chocolate chips.
Charlotte’s Web craft
What you’ll need:
- wood skewers
- scissors
- glue
- white yarn
- black craft foam
- black pipe cleaners
- googly eyes
What you’ll do:
- Cut the skewers down so that they are 6 inches long.
- Glue three skewers overlapping each other so that they form the shape of an asterisk.
- Glue the end of the yarn to the center where the skewers overlap.
- Make the web by wrapping the yarn around each stick, working your way around in a circle. Keep wrapping until you have wrapped all the way to the end of the sticks.
- To make the spider, cut an oval out of black craft foam.
- Cut 4 black pipe cleaners in half so that you have 8 pieces. Fold each piece of pipe cleaner in half to form a “V” shape. Glue the pipe cleaners to the foam to make the legs.
- Glue two googly eyes on the black craft foam.
