City Market

If you’re near Savannah, Georgia or looking to visit there on your next staycation, don’t miss City Market: The Heart and Soul of Savannah. The historic City Market has seen many changes over the years. The market began in 1755 and was Savannah’s social and commercial center of life. Farmers and fisherman brought their crops and fresh seafood, horses pulled wagons filled with watermelon and okra, barbers trimmed hair and others brought their special crafts to the market. People came to meet, to do business and to talk of the day’s events. Don’t pass up the chance to take a horse drawn carriage ride with the Plantation Carriage Company, as they introduce you to all Savannah and City Market have to offer.
