Little ones can’t enjoy the thrill rides, water parks and other family attractions like older kids can. If you have toddlers or preschool children, consider these places to go and things to do throughout Pennsylvania. These attractions and activities are geared toward younger children.
Carnegie Science Center
This hands-on science museum is perfect for young kids. They can launch rockets, play musical instruments and discover creepy insects. Older kids can learn about the physics of sports — and all will enjoy exploring the USS Requin Submarine in the river right outside the science center. In addition, they offer special preschool adventures every Thursday for young explorers, as well as preschooler and parent workshops on Saturday.

Monongahela Incline
The “Mon” was constructed in 1870 and is one two remaining funiculars that took passengers up Mount Washington in the early 20th century. The three-minute ride allows kids (and adults) to see a panoramic view of Pittsburgh and to look down the steep drop. The Monongahela Incline is a great piece of local history. Young kiddos also enjoy getting some ice cream at the shop at the top.

Sesame Place
All young kids love Sesame Street. So why not take them to Sesame Place? Sesame Place is “where Sesame Street comes alive.” Children enjoy dry rides, kiddie water slides, funny shows and, of course, furry friends. Dry rides include Big Bird’s Balloon Race, Cookie Mountain, Elmo’s World, Sunny Day Carousel and much more. Young kids love to fly, spin, slide and climb on nearly two dozen rides. There’s so much to see you can’t do it all in one day – that’s why admission prices are good for two!
