The New York Aquarium

Are you downtown? You must be sure to check to head down by Coney Island and Brighton Beach for the only aquarium in the NYC area.

The New York Aquarium

Spanning 14 acres along the famous boardwalk in Coney Island, Brooklyn, the New York Aquarium is the only aquarium located in the NYC area, and the only place to see Pacific walruses on the upper east coast. Thousands of fish as well as sharks, penguins, walruses, sea otters and fur seals, among others, are showcased here.

Outside the aquarium, penguins, seals, otters and walruses relax on a 300-foot-long swath of the North Pacific’s rocky coastline — and inside their underwater viewing area, you can get an amazing fisheye-view of the animals swimming and diving.

Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium opens every day of the year at 10am, and closing times vary seasonally, and is located on Surf Avenue at West 8th Street in Coney Island. Visitors can enjoy various special events, educational programs while obtaining a new appreciation for worldwide efforts to save wildlife, wild lands and the future of wildlife.
