This aquarium, formerly dubbed the “Lost City of Atlantis,” brings together science and nature with myth to an learning-rich yet entertaining experience for its guests. Check out exhibits such as the Touch Tank, Lost City of Atlantis Shark Exhibit, Coral Reef and the Amazon Rainforest. The Long Island Aquarium also encompasses the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation — New York State’s only authorized marine mammal and sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation center.

This full-scale Aquarium and its new Exhibition Center features one of the world’s largest all-living coral reef displays in this hemisphere, ?a?120,000?gallon?shark? tank, ?year?round ?sea?lion? shows, multiple touch?tanks, ?and? more? than? 100? more exhibits? and ?interactive? experiences — ?including? Some of the outdoor exhibits currently listed include Ancient Reptile Ruins, Interactive Salt Marsh, Otter Falls, Penguin Pavilion and the shores of South Africa. Don’t miss the indoor exhibits like the Giant Pacific Octopus, Jellyfish, Lost City of Atlantis, Shark Exhibit, Amazon Rainforest, Africa’s Lake Malawi, the Long Island coast and the Sand Shark Lagoon.
