Out of Africa Wildlife Park

You don’t need to go all the way to Africa for a real African safari — just drive about an hour north of Phoenix!

Out of Africa Wildlife Park

An hour or so north of Phoenix, this hidden gem of a wildlife park features hundreds of wild animals in a natural African-like setting, lovingly cared for by the expert staff. The experience is just like a real African bush safari!

As you tour the park, you’ll get to see over 40 big cats such as lions, tigers, and leopards. Other animals typical to the African savannah also inhabit the park, including giraffes, wildebeest, zebra, and more. There’s also over 100 different species of birds in the Community Aviary.

Though the big cats are (rightfully) off limits for touching, you can feed and pet giraffes, as well as being able to pet giant pythons and anacondas — assuming you’re up for that sort of thing! All of the animals are wild and untrained, no silly tricks here. Anything you spot the animals doing is entirely their natural behavior and instincts at work.

Plan about four hours for your visit in order to get the full experience. If you get hungry while you’re there, basic staples like hamburgers and hotdogs are available at the park, and definitely check out the gift shop while you’re at it. They’ve got everything from toys and clothes, to books and even handmade African tribal art! This park is also just across the way from the Montezuma Castle National Monument, so you can definitely make a day trip out of these adventures.
