Skip on boring Santa Claus photos at the mall and take your family on an exciting holiday adventure to see the jolly man himself with the Griffith Park Train Ride to Santa
Griffith Park Train Ride to Santa
Located at Griffith Park on the Travel Town Railroad, you can climb aboard the magical mini train to Santa’s village, dazzled by lights, holiday displays and festive music along the way. Upon arrival, you and your kiddos will be greeted by Mrs. Claus and Santa’s elves and will part with a special gift just for visiting.
Be sure to have your camera ready, because you won’t want to miss your youngsters siting on Santa’s lap for a photo op. Photos are $5 each, but you are welcomed to use your own camera as well. Be sure to bundle up because it can get so cold you will think you are really at the North Pole!
The journey to Santa’s workshop kicks off on weekends starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving, then every night two weeks prior to Christmas through the night before Christmas Eve. Tickets are available for purchase online for specific days and hourly time blocks, with trains departing to the “North Pole” continuously between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Note that the last few nights are usually the busiest and sell out, but when making an impromptu stop train ride to see Santa, you can try purchasing tickets at the Travel Town ticket booth so long as there are tickets left.
The normal Travel Town museum exhibits are closed during the Train Ride to Santa operating hours, so coordinate your visit to the museum earlier in the day before your train ride to Santa if you plan on experiencing both.
