Rose Parade in Pasadena

Enjoy an annual family tradition and watch flowers come to life in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses New Year’s Day Rose Parade!

Pasadena Tournament of Roses New Year’s Day Rose Parade

Every year, families gather along the parade route or around their television sets to take in the beauty of the floral-adorned floats making their way down Orange Grove in Pasadena, California. Elaborate floats, bands, celebrities, the Rose Queen and Rose Princesses presiding over the annual celebration mark the start of the New Year.

You can view the two hour parade curbside at no charge, but make your way early to secure a spot along the parade route, as parade goers are allowed to arrive starting at noon the day before the parade. Or, you can spring for bleacher seats where the parade begins, but bring a cushion to sit on to make the experience much more comfortable. Abundant private parking areas offer spaces close to the seats and range from $10 to $20 for the day, or you can purchase a presale parking pass from Parsons.

At the conclusion of the parade, get up close and personal with the floats in the float viewing area, located at the end of the parade route. Then, the annual Rose Bowl Game kicks off around 2 p.m. in Rose Bowl Stadium.

Whether you arrive early or just in time to see the festivities, be sure to bundle up and brings coats, gloves, hats and something warm to drink. And note that in accordance with the Tournament of Roses “never on a Sunday” tradition, the 2012 parade will take place on Monday, Jan. 2 at 8 a.m. PST instead of the usually New Year’s Day date.
