A few short weeks per year, the holidays take center stage at Pershing Square. The scenic landscape and sky scrapers for which Los Angeles is famous sparkle a little brighter, thanks to the holiday lights adoring the outdoor rink which fuse the ambiance with a little extra jolly.

Whether you opt to skate in warmth of the sun or spin under the stars, Downtown on Ice is one of the coolest annual holiday traditions in Los Angeles, California. At only $8 per person, which includes skate rental, the entire family can make merry memories without spending your entire holiday budget. Parking can be found in their underground lot for only $5, but remember to bring your parking ticket for validation. Or, save even more and plan your festivities for the evening when street parking is free.

You may want to grab a bite to eat prior to your visit, as Downtown on Ice lacks food and drink vendors. However, you may get lucky and run into one of LA’s many food trucks. In addition, bring a pair of knee high socks or tuck your pants into your skates to avoid blisters on your shins that can put a halt to your yuletide fun.

The rink is opened Nov. 17, 2011 through Jan. 16, 2012 this holiday season, so plan your visit early or during the week to avoid the crowds.
