The museum has a variety of child-enticing play areas for kids of all ages, so turn them loose at “Arts a la Carte” to find their inner artist through creativity expressed while dancing and painting — with edible paints and plenty of glitz and glitter — or challenge their imaginations at the “Assembly Plant” with building projects and the tools they need for engineering and building. Let them learn a lesson they’ll remember on fire safety at “Fire Station Number 1,” or watch aspiring veterinarians examine x-rays, use a stethoscope and administer some TLC at the “Ready Vet Go” station. The tiniest visitors can creep and crawl their way through a pint-sized storybook world filled with cottages and lily pads at the “Center for Young Children” or explore “Over My Head” — experiencing the delights of a tree house and toddler-sized bird nest. It’s a sensory experience that takes the little ones’ imaginations to new heights: up, up and away!
Kids will be intrigued on “Super Science Sundays” when awesome science experiments are the order of the day, and will love “Backyard Explorers” where they’ll learn about all of the animals and plants waiting to be discovered in their own backyards. The 1- to 3-year-old crowd can giggle and wiggle their way to improved motor skills every Monday during Toddler Time, and the aspiring performers and rising stars can join in for the “Ukulele Sing” or “Make-Believe Matinee.”
