If you’re longing for a simpler kind of life, try it on for size at North Dakota’s Bonanzaville.
Bonanzaville
Bonanzaville, located in North Dakota’s Cass County, is a historical dreamland! Located in West Fargo, this attraction encompasses 24 historical buildings relocated from around the country and four amazing museums: the Eugene Dahl Car Museum, the Eagles Air Museum, the Law Enforcement Museum and the Main Museum where permanent, temporary and traveling exhibits are on display.
Take a stroll through Pioneer Village and you’ll encounter horse-drawn carriages, people dressed in time-appropriate garb and all kinds of fun things to see — like the Cass-Clay Creamery (a reproduction of a typical 1920s creamery), the Brass Rail Saloon and Hotel (sans indoor plumbing, just like it was 100 years ago) and the Wheatland Town Hall and Jail, which was built in 1905.
If you’re planning a trip to Bonanzaville, allow plenty of time to really explore the entire grounds as there is really so much to cover. You’ll also find plenty of fun summertime events planned, like the Bonanzaville Veterans Memorial Celebration May 23 and Pioneer Days August 18-20.
Your trip would not be complete without a trip to the gift shop for some specialty souvenirs. A must-have in your take-home basket is a copy of the Dakota Cooking cookbook by the Bonanza Belles who have been volunteering their cooking services (among other things!) for events and meetings since 1975. You’ll leave Bonanzaville longing for a simpler time and with hopes to start planning your next trip to Bonanzaville.
